Welcome to 2021
Welcome to the start of the second half of our Rotary Year. Thanks to Bruce for the program that I recently sent to all members. With the easing of Covid restrictions it is hoped that we can return to some normality for the remainder of this year.
CANNI CREEK RACES
Many thanks to those members that went up to Buchan on the 17th January for a working bee at the Canni Creek Race track. The Canni Creek Race meeting is on Saturday the 13th of February and we are looking for volunteers to assist on the day. Canni Creek Racing Club is a major sponsor of Rotary and this is our opportunity to support them. Please let Ian Dunkley know if you can make the day.(ph 0408516899)
AUSTRALIA DAY AWARDS
The East Gippsland Shire Council held a fabulous award ceremony last Thursday at the Sarsfield Recreation Reserve. Congratulations to EGRFA who were nominated as for the Event of the Year and to Bruce Hurley who was nominated for the Citizen of the Year. No winners but a fabulous recognition of all the great contributors to our communities that help make East Gippsland such a fabulous place to live.
AUSTRALIA DAY
Late last year our club was able to access some funding for Australia Day events thanks to the Australia Day Council and Tim Wills A/G for Rotary West Gippsland. At short notice our Board decided to support the LEADA events committee with their planned Australia Day Fireworks and Duck Race. The Fire Works has been cancelled at the last minute but the Duck Race is still planned to go ahead.
i am looking forward to catching up on Wednesday at our BBQ and we also have a couple of prospective members attending.
My name is Carina, and I am joint Environment and Sustainability director for the Bairnsdale Sunrise Rotary club.
Our committee is planning to have a bee hotel making workshop in late January 2021.

President Elect Training
We do not have a President Elect for 2021/2022. I encourage all members to give this some thought as I will definitely be finishing my term at the end of June
The District urges all PEs to enroll in the President Basics Course and complete the modules which is a prerequisite for the next PETS session.
This course if made up of a number of topics and is designed to be spread over a number of sessions. Please contact us if you have any issues or you are having trouble connecting to the course in the Learning Centre. We look forward to tracking your progress.
