Polio update

Eradicating Polio is still a key focus. The COVID19 outbreak has made this task a little more difficult. But, we will beat this disease. Have a read of these two interesting articles about how Rotary is still working at eradicating Polio even while pandemic is happening and how we are working with WHO to help with contact tracing. Rotarians are truly amazing people.

Rotary remains committed to fighting polio and responding to COVID-19
As Rotary members continue the fight against polio, they’re also responding to the COVID-19 health crisis by addressing the urgent needs of the communities it affects worldwide. With the development of COVID-19 vaccines, Rotary is ready to use its expertise in distributing polio vaccine and communicating about vaccine efficacy to assist local health authorities in promoting and delivering COVID-19 vaccinations.

Community BBQ Sponsored by the East Gippsland Rotary Fire Aid Committee – Saturday 17 April 2021

The East Gippsland Rotary Fire Aid (EGRFA) Committee is sponsoring a community BBQ on Saturday 17 April 2021.

The event will be held at the Buchan Football Ground, commencing 10:30 AM.

It’s an opportunity for Rotarians from the 5 Rotary Clubs to say hello to the residents of Buchan and to demonstrate our support for them after a tough year.

Please come along and lend a hand cooking a sausage, or just chatting to the locals.

To help with catering, please call Peter Sindrey (0418 117 998) if you will be attending.
Melbourne Design Week Events in Lakes over Easter

Lakes Entrance and surrounds are expecting a large influx of tourists over the Easter period, under a program of arts events, in conjunction with Melbourne Design Week.

These events include activities at Lake Tyers (Float) as well at Forestec.

One special day is centered around the Waterfront, along the Esplanade at Lakes.

We expect there will be groups of tourists who will need advice, being directed to restaurants, jetties where cruises will depart, the Slip Way facility and general questions about our wonderful township.

This may be a great opportunity for us to act as ‘ambassadors’ for the community.

If you are interested in assisting, please give Peter Sindrey a call (0418 117 998) and he will pass on you name to the organizers.
